borrowing from the boys

Lately I've been thinking about menswear inspired shoes- are they too 90's? I remember being so proud of my oxford style shoes that I wore to Thanksgiving in 4th grade, yet photographic evidence proves they were a bit dowdy. Luckily the options of today provide various styling options that would have more favorable outcomes,

Thelma Oxford, Free People
With a menswear inspired flat you definitely need to be feminine in all other endeavors.
Think a frilly dress or romantic blouse.

Bass Brookfield Leather, Delias
The sunnier shade brings some life to what could be a boring shoe

BCBGirls Kaola Oxford, Zappos
These are super jazzy and the modern cut out touch offers major edge

Harah, Steve Madden
Michael Jackson meets 50's Malt Shop

Chie Mihara, Jildor
Of course, these are my favorite- I love the girly vibe of the applique detail, sturdy heel for 9-5 wear and muted yet punchy colors that can still be taken seriously

What do you think of menswear inspired shoes? Save them for the runway or strut them on the sidewalk?
